 The Mercado Modelo belongs to the Municipal Council of Salvador, being administered by EMTURSA in partnership with ASCOMM – the Vendors Association.
Shop owner have a leasing period during which they must follow all the guidelines of the administration. Each month, they are obliged to pay an occupation fee (called the ‘public price’) for the use of the shop. In addition to this fee, the shop owner pays the Body Corporate. That money is used for the payment of the general costs and function of the administration. The administration is responsible for the coordination and organization of the shops, control of the loading and unloading of goods and application and carrying out of offical regulations.
